The History

In Bordeaux, the city and wine have existed side by side for more than 2000 years. It is the centre of the world's largest wine region, with more than 120,000 hectares of vineyards and 400 trade houses.

The traders, the unknown labourers, the wine growers, their soil and their language, have had a considerable part in the region's economic, cultural and humanistic development. They reveal themselves today in the midst of the Chartrons district; centre of Bordeaux's trading history.


The Museum

The Museum of Wine and Wine Trade presents a collection of historical objects enhanced with modern scenography and combined with the use of new technologies.

To enter into the world of wine is also to appreciate it, to observe it and to taste it! Thus, each visit is complimented with a commented wine tasting session of two merchant wines.
